Belinda Adam (Medan, Indonesia) is a dancer, choreographer, and movement researcher based in NYC. Throughout her career, Belinda has worked with choreographers from all across the world, such as Holly Johnston, Seda Aybay, Maria Gillespie, and Karen McDonald. She has performed with BitterSuite UK and Designated Movement Company, featured in NYTimes. Belinda has also appeared in film and commercials of THINX, LPZMedia, and performed for non-profit organization such as Women’s March and United We Dream. Besides co-directing Suku Dance Lab with Talia Moreta, she is currently working closely with Director Yara Travieso. Belinda joined MICHIYAYA Dance in 2015 with their first production Project V (5).
Breeanah Breeden (Cheraw, SC) is a graduate of Montclair State University where she received a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Dance Performance. While at Montclair State she has performed works by Bill T. Jones, Larry Keigwin, Jose Limón, and Martha Graham. She has performed for Life Dance Company and Rahway Dance Theatre. Currently, she is the Production Manager/Cinematographer for Sidra Bell Dance New York and dances with Von Howard Project and New York based choreographer Kathleen Kelley. She is the Managing Director of Proteo Media. She was awarded the Choreographic Excellence Award in 2015 from Montclair State University. She joined MICHIYAYA Dance in 2018 following as a company apprentice since 2016.
Stephanie Carlos (East Stroudsburg, PA) received her B.F.A. in Dance from The University of the Arts in Philadelphia. She has performed works by Sidra Bell, J.E. Kim, Curt Haworth, Helen Simoneau, and Iris Bouche. She has traveled abroad for dance; Attending The Jerusalem Academy of Music and Dance in Jerusalem, Israel, and was apart of a touring ensemble which allowed her to present her choreography at Centre National de la Danse in Paris, France and Royal Conservatoire Antwerp in Antwerp, Belgium. Stephanie joined MICHIYAYA Dance in 2016.
Núria Martin Fandos
Nuria Martin Fandos (Barcelona, Spain) earned a degree in Contemporary Dance from Institut del Teatre/Conservatory of Barcelona. She is the recipient the 1st prize of III Certamen Internacional Ciutat de Barcelona. She is a full-scholarship graduate from Certificate Program’s Peridance Capezio Center. Nuria has been featured in Kevin Powell's The Education of Me, Bugaboo Donkey, Planned Parenthood and THINX Activewear Launch Campaign. She has also performed for Toys "R" Us Children Fund Gala, Television of Catalunya's Summer advertisement Aquest Estiu M'agrades Molt and Nano Stern and Ben Verdery's Chant for Peace music video. Nuria has been a guest artist for Balasole Dance Company, Pedestrian Wanderlust, Nellesa Walthour, Estado Flotante/Alvaro Gonzalez and Elisabeth Motley. She currently works with BARE Dance Company, De Funes Dance and Suku Dance Lab. Núria joined MICHIYAYA Dance in 2015 with their first production, Project V (5).
Hannah Seiden (Boulder, CO) is a graduate from the NYU Tisch School of the Arts with a B.F.A. in Dance. As a freelance dance artist in the city, she has performed most recently with MICHIYAYA and Rovaco Dance Company. Hannah has performed works by Ohad Naharin, Shumpei Nemoto, Shannon Gillen, Larry Keigwin, Merce Cunningham, Cora Bos-Kroese, Pamela Pietro, Travis Wall, Sonya Tayeh, Stacey Tookey, Billy Bell, and many others. Along with live performance, Hannah has danced in music videos, films, and ads for various artists and companies. Hannah choreographs and teaches various styles of dance and is also Pilates mat certified. Hannah joined MICHIYAYA Dance in 2016.
Alexandra Wood (San Jose, CA) earned her B.F.A. in Dance from the Tisch School of the Arts at NYU. She has performed original works by Sidra Bell, Bret Easterling, Pamela Pietro, Rosie Herrera, Jack Ferver, Merce Cunningham and Bill T. Jones. With her passion for movement invention, Alexandra has choreographed for several multidisciplinary projects and music videos in NYC, as well as attended various summer intensives such as American Dance Festival where she received the Charles L. and Stephanie Reinhart Scholarship. In addition to performing and expanding her repertoire, she is passionate about writing, self-expressive fashion, and anything that emboldens her creative essence, intellectual mind, or altruistic ventures. Alexandra, a self-proclaimed “physical linguist” with bold sensuality, utilizes her stark alignment with creative writing to adapt to any and all artistic and immersive environments that evoke supernatural optimism, tolerance, and inclusive dignity. Alexandra joined MICHIYAYA Dance in 2016.
Alex Bittner was raised in Brooklyn, New York, where she began dancing with the Mark Morris Student Company. She attended LaGuardia High School for the Performing Arts, and continued on to graduate from the Dance Conservatory at SUNY Purchase. She's had the pleasure of performing works by Alexandra Beller, Jose Limon, MADBoots Dance, Martha Graham, and more. Alex has performed with the Creators Collective, the Dance Collective, Dunn Danse, Dash Mob, WitWorks, and Zoo City, and has starred in many music videos and dance films. She is currently working with Corinne Shearer, Jenny Rocha, Jody Sperling, and Deirdre Towers. Alex joined MICHIYAYA Dance as an apprentice in 2018.
Aleixa Maria Freire
Aleixa Maria Freire is a freelance dance artist based in New York. She earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts in dance from the University of the Arts in Philadelphia under the direction of Donna Faye Burchfield. While at UArts Aleixa performed in works by Sharon Eyal, Andrea Miller/Gallim Dance, Netta Yerushalmy, Helen Simeneau, Sidra Bell, Mark Haim, Katie Swords-Thurman, and Jesse Zaritt. After graduating she performed in a new work by Emanuel Gat in the 37th-Montpellier Danse Festival in Montpillier, France. Since moving to New York Aleixa performed with Carmen Caceres as a member of her company DanceAction. Aleixa is currently performing in the works of Molly Kennedy, Caylee Shimizu, Mariana Taragano as a member of Taragano Theatre, and as an apprentice with MICHIYAYA Dance directed by Anya Clarke and Mitsuko Verdery. Aleixa was the recipient of the 2018 Chez Bushwick Artist in Residency (AIR) Cycle 1. Aleixa joined MICHIYAYA Dance as an apprentice in 2018.
Alex Schmidt began dancing at an early age in Tampa, Florida. She spent her high school years attending Next Generation Ballet's Trainee Program under the direction of Peter Stark and Ivonne Lemus. As a senior, Alex moved to San Francisco where she graduated from the Alonzo King Lines Ballet training program. Alex currently lives in New York City where she is a dance artist and a Criminology major at University of Florida. Alex joined MICHIYAYA Dance as an apprentice in 2018.
